Oxford Christmas Parade

The CVB staff and board loaded up on the Double Decker Bus last night for the Annual Oxford Christmas Parade! The Parade is one of Oxford's best holiday traditions and is a great slice of small town life! For our staff it was lots of fun to participate in the parade and we loved throwing old Double Decker Festival t-shirts out for the crowd! Here are a few pictures from the evening!

Off Square Dining: Snackbar

A part of the City Grocery Restaurant Group, and owned by James Beard winning Chef John Currence, Snackbar is delicious and is just a quick jaunt from the Square. Located on North Lamar in the mid-town shopping center, next door to Big Bad Breakfast, Snackbar serves up what they call "Bubba Brasserie" cuisine ( the marriage of French Bistro and North Mississippi Cafe).

They've started their new winter menu this week, so even if you've been before you are sure to find something new to enjoy!

We'll have a shorter tour ( 45 minutes) this Friday, October 14th at 4:00 p.m. Historian Jack Mayfeild will lead the tour where you can take a ride on our historic double decker bus and see the sights and beauty of Oxford, while learning about our rich history. Tickets are $5 and can be reserved in advance by calling Mary Allyn Roulhac at 662.232.2477. The tour departs from Skipwith Cottage on the Courthouse Square.

Outside of Oxford: Old Taylor Antiques

As we've mentioned before there are some great places to discover just outside of downtown Oxford.  One of those places is Old Taylor Antiques. Old Taylor Antiques is conveniently located on Old Taylor Road between Oxford and downtown Taylor. The store contains a gallery of timeless treasures including classic and period American and European heirlooms and accessories that recall the splendor of the American South in the antebellum and postbellum eras.

The Yancys invite you to stop by the store on Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, Saturdays from 10am-6pm and Sundays from 1pm-5pm.

To schedule a private showing, call 662.234.9797 to arrange a date and time.

For more information on Old Taylor Antiques check out their website or facebook page.

Mississippi Tourism Videos

Several of our staff members attended the Mississippi Governor's Conference on Tourism last week and had a chance to see these great videos produced by our state tourism office.  I don't know about you, but it sure makes me want to visit this great state.

Let us know if the Oxford CVB can help you find your true south in Mississippi.  We hope you enjoy them, and share them with someone you know!
